"Epic Beard Man is a 67 year old Vietnam Vet that took the internet by storm on February 16, 2010 after an altercation between him and a younger man on an AC Transit Bus in Oakland. He has become a new cult hero, war god and will live in the hearts of many until the end of time. On February 16, 2010, destiny would have it that two completely opposite specimens of the male species would end up in the wrong place, at the wrong time, in the wrong state of mind.  This turned out to be a recipe for the "perfect storm" for the most epic bus fight to hit human existence.  Through the power of technlology and a stroke of luck, a bystander was able to record the meat of the altercation.  The Result: One bloody nose,  and instant internet history was made.

At this very moment, the altercation, the buzz around it and the pop culture around it is expanding at an incredible rate.  This page will act as a Hub for gathering the best bits of commentary, parody pictures, and video's as the phenomenon continues to unfold.

The event occured on Bus Number 3057 of the AC transit system at the corner of 20th Street and Webster Street in Oakland headed towards the West Oakland

"The white guy was asking the black guy for a shoeshine," said Iyanna Washington who shot the video with a small camera. "And I guess the black guy took it as a racist comment, like, 'Why's a black guy have to spit shine your shoes?'"

Epic Beard Man (Thomas Bruso aka Vietnam Tom aka Tom Slick) is a 67 year old war veteran who gained internet fame on February 16th, 2010 in a video which was filmed by Iyanna Washington and was posted toYouTube.

In the video, the elderly "hero" finds himself confronted by a racially sensitive and unreasonably angry black man(Michael). In a misunderstanding of a what he felt was a racial remark about shoe shining, the two exchanged heated words that continued to escalate untill Tom decided to move to the front of the bus.

With their ego's fully in control, and without much intervention from other passengers, Michael continues to push his bluff as the Alpha aggressor and follows Epic Beard Man to the front.

Egged on by the first physical outburst, Tom subsequently surprises us by delivering a beat down so crushing in its righteousness that has never before seen in a bus fight.

The internets have exploded with discussion of the video, due in part to the old man's t-shirt (I AM A MOTHERFUCKER) and partly because a drunk "thug" looking black guy gets his shit handed to him by an old white dude 17 years older than himself

The all around Irony that is jam packed in the epic 3 minute clip has not only created a forum for controversy, but spawns a culture of meme's such as

Amber Lamps: The "Hipster" female in the background who didn't give a shit and remained cool calm and collected. Her nickname was coined after Michaels failure to properly pronounce the word "ambulance".

Surprisingly when I saw the lone interview of Michael telling his side of the story, I was shocked in that he seemed like a much more intelligent human being than he portrayed himself in the epic fight video.

While Epic Beard Man Tom remains the same character(which is probably why he's so loved & rising to Chuck Norris Status), Michael here admits that he did not show a knife to him, nor was he wanted for murder and was on parole. Ironically, this is a he said she said ordeal but many Epic Beard Man Fans easily dismiss the discrepancies in Tom's story. Nonetheless, that goes to show the sheer power of such an odd and captivating character, albeit a psychologically impaired one that he is now famous for.
